At 1pm on Tuesday 1st March, in the third of our season of Tuesdays Till Two “Church of Ideas” talks, Beverley Jones will be sharing images, messages and stories from two visitors books that are now a century old.
A history graduate and Oral History specialist, Beverley is the project officer on Vivacity’s WW1 project, ‘Peterborough in the Great War’. Beverley will be sharing images and stories from the Women’s United Total Abstinence Council (WUTAC) visitors’ books. The slim volumes contain poems, messages and pictures written by servicemen passing through Peterborough East station on their way to and from the front in 1916 and 1917.
As usual the church café will be open from noon, and will be selling a range of hot drinks, and home made cakes, scones, and other baked goodies with all profits from the café going to The Green Backyard. The talk will begin at 1pm and will be followed by an opportunity for discussion and questions. Admission to the talk is free, but a donation to help cover costs will be appreciated. The suggested donation is £3.
