In the last in our season of summer lunchtime concerts, flutists Deirdre Culloty and Pippa Wilson, pianist Bruce Burbidge and harpist Rowena Bass invite you to join them on a musical journey through the centuries. Full detais of the programme are given below.
Admission is free, but we do ask those who can afford it to make a donation to help cover our costs. The suggested donation is £4.
As ever St John’s will be open for an hour before the concert begins, with volunteers from The Green Backyard running a café offering lots of home made sweet and savoury treats as well as hot and cold drinks.
Brandenburg Concerto no 5 (2nd movement) – J. S. Bach
Concerto in D (1st movement) – Haydn/Leopold Hoffmann
Variations on God Save the King – Beethoven
Harp solo (to be decided!)
Arabesque no 1 – Debussy
Maya – Ian Clarke
Send In The Clowns – Sondheim
Bruce, who is also a Roman Catholic priest, is currently a tutor at Rome’s Venerable English College, but was formerly a parish priest here in Peterborough, and in recent years his summer concerts with us have become something of an annual institution, attracting audiences of well over 100 people. So make sure you get to St John’s in good time if you’re hoping to buy something from the café or you want a seat in a front row pew!
